Spencer Sukel is an Associate at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and is based in the Cleveland office. He is an experienced litigator who represents individuals and corporate entities through all aspects of litigation, including pre-litigation and trial, in state and federal courts across Ohio. His practice focuses on defending clients in high-stakes litigation involving personal injury, medical negligence, complex insurance disputes, and professional liability disputes.
In addition, Spencer routinely represents employers in labor and employment matters including sexual harassment, sex discrimination, race discrimination, disability discrimination, age discrimination and tortious interference with business relations claims, and businesses in disability discrimination matters involving claimed violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. He also has successfully represented homeowners’ associations in disputes involving restrictive covenants and contract claims, and clients in disputes resolved through alternative dispute resolution forums, including arbitration. He approaches each case with a focus on strategic resolution and clear communication, drawing on his experience in both trial preparation and motion practice, and commits to providing clients with practical advice and zealous, risk-conscious, advocacy.
Spencer is a member of the Tort and Catastrophic Loss, Healthcare, Professional Liability/Errors and Omissions, and Insurance Coverage and Extra-Contractual Liability practice sections. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Akron School of Law and holds a B.A. in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University. He prior served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Justice Michael P. Donnelly at the Supreme Court of Ohio, where he gained valuable appellate and constitutional experience.
