Michelle L. Covington is Senior Counsel at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP. She is a member of the Firm’s Labor & Employment Law and Commercial Litigation/Directors & Officers practice sections. Michelle is a talented litigator with significant experience representing clients in both state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on labor and employment, commercial litigation and corporate governance matters. Michelle counsels employers on handbook and policy creation, internal investigations and related human resource concerns. She has served on multiple jury and bench trial teams and is familiar with all stages of litigation from inception to jury verdict.
Michelle represents a wide range of clients, including employers and corporate entities, and is known for her strategic, business-oriented approach. She works closely with clients to deliver candid and precise legal analysis, helping them make fully informed decisions about their cases.
Michelle is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia. She served as an extern for the Hon. Jon S. Tigar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. She was Articles Editor for the Berkeley Journal of Employment & Labor Law and Publishing Editor for Ecology Law Quarterly. Michelle earned her J.D. from UC Berkeley, her M.A. in Philosophy from San Francisco State University and her B.A. in Philosophy from UC Berkeley.
